Linzer cookie cutter with 6 interchangeable centers. Inserts include: Lips, heart with arrow, cupid, double heart, dove, and fluted heart.
Create these cookies filled with jam and topped with sugar. A traditional holiday favorite, but enjoyable year-round. The hole in the top cookie is the shape of the insert you use. Attractively packed in an acetate box with direction and recipe included.
Linzer Cookie Recipe included with cutters:
1 cup butter
1 tsp Orange or Vanilla Extract
1 ½ cups sugar
2 cups shifted cake flour
½ cup powdered sugar
1 jar of jam (any flavor)
Mix butter, extract and sugar.
Stir in 1 cup of flour at a time, mixing well.
Chill the dough at least 2 hours.
Roll out ½ of the dough on a cookie sheet to ¼ inch thick and chill 30 more minutes. Cut with the Linzer cutter without the insert. (Push plunger to release cookie if necessary.) Remove excess dough and bake at 350° F for 12 minutes.
Roll out the other half of the dough no a second cookie sheet and chill for 30 minutes. Cut with the Linzer cutter with your choice of the 6 inserts in place. Remove excess dough and bake at 350° F for 12 minutes. Cool completely.
Spread about 1 teaspoons of jam on each cookie bottom.
Place tops over bottoms to create the sandwich effect.
Dust tops with powdered sugar. Centers will jam will appear after powdered sugar got absorbed.
